The Missing Middle

The Missing Middle refers to the lack of medium density housing development in Toronoto's yellow belt area. Termed as the "Yellow Belt" for its zoning color code, these areas are indentidied as a stabilized residentail area zoned exclusively or semi-detached sigle family residential dwellings.

Adding just one duplex in each of the 20,000 hectares could provide new housing for approximately 45000 people. This speculative housing project aims increase average density by up to 35 percent these neighborhoods by introducing a new  low rise high density housing model to the toronto housing market. The proposed scheme aims at addressing the shortage of affordable family sized housing in the GTA  by providing a range of 2 bedroom units of configurations.
